Car show has been moved to parking lot
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The annual Father's Day Car Show on East State Street won't be on the street this year.
Construction on nearby Pa. Route 18 has prompted the show to move to the north and east sides of the Shenango Valley Mall parking lot.
The show is sponsored by the Shenango Valley Antique Automobile Club of America and attracts thousands of visitors. The club contributes some its proceeds to the Shenango Valley Children's Transplant Fund.
This year's show is expected to draw 600 entries, and more than 100 trophies will be presented.
A 1961 Cadillac Fleetwood owned by Jack Moss of Sharon will be the show's featured car. The Cadillac, with an original cost of $6,000, has 35,000 miles on it and was the last model made with tail fins and wide whitewall ties.
The show is adding a new class this year for original, unrestored cars that are at least 25 years old.
Car registration will run from 8 a.m. to noon, and the show will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with trophy presentations at 4 p.m.
