Animal companion tests

Animal companion tests
YOUNGSTOWN -- K-9s for Compassion Inc. will have screenings for potential animal and handler volunteers June 8 and 9 at St. Elizabeth Health Center by appointment only. The nonprofit group is registered through the Delta Society, a national organization that began in 1977. Through regular weekly visits to nursing homes and hospitals, the handlers help with animal-assisted activity and therapy for patients. Some of the facilities visited include St. Elizabeth's, St. Joseph Health Center, Park Vista, Community Skilled Care, Horizon Village, Assumption Village and Gracewoods Village. The animals that pass the testing are dependable and predictable. Appointments begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue every 15 minutes through 5:30 p.m. If you are interested, contact Katie Squibbs at (330) 534-2001.
