Police search for suspects

WARREN -- Warren Township police continued their search today for two men who rammed a truck through the wall of a Country Fair and stole an automated teller machine.
Lt. Donald Bishop said police spent most of Tuesday going over the evidence and looking for clues.
Police said the two men, using a stolen truck, rammed through the wall of the Mahoning Avenue convenience store around 4:12 a.m. Monday and stole an ATM.
The truck put a 6-foot-wide hole in the side of the store. Police saw the men leaving and chased the truck to Parkman Road and Lover's Lane, where the two men got out and ran.
The truck and the ATM were recovered. Bishop said the ATM's safe was not opened and, as far as he could tell, no money was taken.
Looking for clues
"We did find a Radio Shack police scanner in the truck, so we went to Radio Shack to find out if they knew of anyone who had recently purchased one," Bishop said, adding they also checked with area residents who have scanners in their homes.
"So far, the people whose houses we went to still had their scanners. It is like searching for a needle in a haystack," he said.
Bishop said they are also trying to figure out who owns the 4,000-pound engine hoist used to lift the ATM from the store.
Police said the pickup truck was stolen from Four-Twenty-Two Auto Wrecking, 4858 Parkman Road N.W., early Tuesday.
A Trumbull County sheriff's detective went through the truck searching for fingerprints.
"We have to wait and find out if we were able to get any fingerprints, and that may help us," Bishop said.
Police said they also will be looking at a videotape from one of the store's security cameras.
"This was an unusual type of crime," Bishop said. "I can't ever remember having anything like this here before, so it's going to take us a little while."
