KEYSTONE CLIPS Valley Arts Guild seeks entries for Buhl Day Art Show

The Valley Arts Guild is looking for entries for the 2002 Buhl Day Art Show to be Sept. 2 in Buhl Farm, Hermitage. Money will be awarded in fine arts and photography in professional and amateur categories. Entry forms are available at the guild office at 10 Vine Ave., Sharon, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. They must be returned to the guild by Aug. 23.
Reporting underage drinking
People in Pennsylvania who are aware of underage drinking but don't want to get involved by calling the police can call a new state toll-free hot line to report it. Callers can dial (888) UNDER21 to anonymously report suspicious parties or businesses that may be selling alcohol to minors. The line is handled by the Pennsylvania State Police, Liquor Control Board and Pennsylvanians Against Underage Drinking and is believed to the be the first of its kind in the nation, said state Rep. Rod Wilt of Greenville, R-17th.
Harley owners donate
The West Penn Harley Owners Group recently held a golf outing and donated $122 and several boxes of food to Lawrence County's food program serving low-income residents. County Commissioner Brian Burick said the group contacted the county about contributing because it had heard good things about the county's monthly free food program.
Studying gambling's impact
A New Castle legislator has been appointed to a group that studies the impact of gambling. State Rep. Chris Sainato, D-9th, was one of four Pennsylvania legislators named to the National Council of Legislators from Gaming States. Pennsylvania recently joined this national organization that has been in existence since the mid-1990s. Sainato and three other legislators are part of the first coalition from Pennsylvania to be part of it. The group does not promote or oppose gaming, but is primarily concerned with the proper regulation of the industry. It is the only organization of state lawmakers that meets on a regular basis to discuss issues regarding gaming. Sainato said 39 states are part of the group. Pennsylvania qualifies because it permits horse racing and the lottery.
