BENEFIT AHA plans annual Heart Walk

This year's event is dedicated to the late David Y. Farrell.
The 2002 American Heart Walk has been scheduled for Sept. 21 at Boardman Township Park and Cafaro Field in Niles.
Leading the walk will be the 2002 Heart Children, Stephen Antal, 4, son of Cindy and Steve Antal of Austintown, for the Mahoning/Columbiana Division, and Joseph Alberini Jr., 5, son of Jennifer and Joseph Alberini Sr. of Warren, for the Trumbull Division.
The American Heart Association has named Michael Rowan, president and CEO of Humility of Mary Health Partners, as chairman for this year's event.
The walk will be dedicated to the memory of David Y. Farrell of Vienna, who died in April. Farrell had been actively involved with the AHA and the Heart Walk as well as Mended Hearts Inc. He would have celebrated his 10th year as a heart transplant recipient this year. His wife, Darlene, is a member of the organization's Trumbull Division board and has organized a "Family and Friends" team for the walk in his honor.
AHA is recruiting more teams for the annual walk. Heart and stroke survivors will receive red caps or 2002 pins when they participate in the special survivor lap of the event.
