NEW MIDDLETOWN -- The Rev. Nicholas Shori officiated at noon July 6 at St. Paul the Apostle Church for the wedding of Marie Christine Pesa and Richard Lee Pekkanen.
Parents of the bride are Carmel Buras, 11220 Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road, and Dale Pesa, 443 Sexton St., Struthers. Mr. Pekkanen is a son of William Jr. and Marilyn Pekkanen, 225 Como St., Struthers.
A reception was held at Archangel Michael Center in Campbell, and the couple honeymooned in Cancun, Mexico.
They are living at 64 Erskine Ave., Boardman.
The bride wore a halter-style gown of satin and organza styled with a full skirt that fell to a cathedral train. It was enhanced with Alencon lace and pearls.
Her cousin, Regina Melkonian, was matron of honor, and bridesmaids were Tiffiny Joy; Kimberly Shetter, the groom's sister; and Nicole Ziccardi. They wore periwinkle gowns. The groom's nieces, Christina and Jennifer Shetter, were flower girls.
William J. Pekkanen III performed the duties of best man for his brother, and groomsmen were Vincent Pesa, the bride's brother; Dennis Shetter, the groom's brother-in-law; and David Horton.
Mrs. Pekkanen graduated from ITT Technical Institute in Youngstown with an associate degree in business management and accounting. She is a secretary for Excellence in Execution Inc. in Boardman.
Her husband graduated from Independent Electrical Contractors Western Reserve Chapter in North Lima and is an electrician with Enertech Electrical Inc. in Lowellville.
