3 bystanders foil purse snatching

AUSTINTOWN -- A 62-year-old Youngstown woman told police that three men stopped the thief who stole her purse from her shopping cart Sunday morning in the parking lot of IGA on Mahoning Avenue.
The woman, of Idlewood Road, said the man grabbed her purse while she was putting groceries into her car around 10 a.m. She said that when she screamed for help, three men in the parking lot grabbed the thief, but he broke free, dropped the purse and escaped in a nearby car.
