YOUNGSTOWN -- Greater Ebenezer Baptist Church was the setting June 15 as La-Wanda Maddox, 3499 Desoto Ave., Struthers, and Michael A. Gibbs, 318 Edwards Ave., exchanged vows before the Rev. William Blackburn during a ceremony at 3:30 p.m.
The daughter of Katherine McCall, 259 Wychwood Lane, and the son of Mildred Gibbs of the Edwards address were honored at a reception at the Ukrainian Orthodox Center Pavilion. They plan a honeymoon in August to the Bahamas.
Pearls accented the bride's gown designed with a round neckline and long sleeves.
The bride, who is retaining her maiden name, and the groom are bus drivers with Transit Service Inc.
Honor attendants were Regina Maddox of Youngstown, the bride's sister, and Kimberly McCall of Columbus. Bridesmaids were Youngstown residents Latoya Johnson, the groom's niece; Shakelia Hudson, his daughter; and Doretta Hurst, Liza Brown and Pamela Debouse. They wore black dresses. Flower girl was Shameka Hurst of Youngstown, her cousin.
Maurice Gibbs of Youngstown served as best man for his brother. Groomsmen were Tony and Shawn Gibbs and Ike Black, the groom's nephews; Brandon Maddox, the bride's nephew; William Dallas, her brother; and Lorenzo Perkins. All are of Youngstown. Sam Anderson of Youngstown, her son, was ring bearer, and William Dallas of Youngstown, her brother, was an usher.
Ryan Salde of Youngstown, her son, also was a participant.
The couple live at the bride's address.
