The Scrappers took a six-run lead into the fifth inning but Jamestown produced a pair of five-run innings to win.

NILES -- If the Mahoning Valley Scrappers told a fish tale about Thursday's game, it would be called "The Big One That Got Away."
The Scrappers grabbed a 6-0 lead in the third inning, but allowed the Jamestown Jammers to produce a pair of five-runs innings for a 10-6 win at Cafaro Field.
"That was tough," Scrapper manager Chris Bando said. "We've got to get some outs in the fifth inning and Victor [Kleine] did not pitch effectively in the fifth inning."
The Scrappers (20-17) had eight hits in the first three innings, including a double on the first pitch to lead-off batter Ben Francisco.
Brian Wright brought in Francisco with a sacrifice fly, giving him 17 RBIs on the year.
Bill Peavey and Jeff Haase followed with run-producing singles.
In the third inning, Peavey singled again and Haase hit a 350-foot homer to left for a 5-0 lead. Haase has six homers and 21 RBIs, both team highs.
Jonathan Van Every, who made a super catch in right field to end the top of the third, doubled and scored on a wild pitch to make it 6-0.
That forced the Jammers (17-20) to pull starter Dustin Kupper (0-4, 5.85 era).
Kleine sailed through four innings, yielding just two singles.
"With a six-run lead you have to go out there and throw strikes and shut the door," Bando said. "He didn't do that and it got them back in the game."
The Jammers used three singles, a double, a walk and a fielding error to score five times in the fifth and chase Kleine.
Relievers hold Scrappers
Three relief pitchers pitched the final six innings for Jamestown and held the Scrappers to a fifth-inning single by Mike Conroy.
"We swung the bats early off their starter and their bullpen shut us down," Bando said.
"When their relievers came in, we had a difficult time against them," Bando said. "Their starter we knocked out of the game but the relievers they brought into the game were effective against us."
The final 23 hitters of the game for the Scrappers produced one hit, but two were hit by pitches.
Still nursing a 6-5 lead, the Scrappers called on closer Ignacio Montano to pitch the eighth inning.
Buoyed by the shift in momentum, the Jammers smacked Montano for four hits, including a three-run homer by Oliver Lepine who had a five-RBI night.
Montano had been almost unstoppable previously. In nine appearances covering 11 innings he had yielded only seven singles and no runs while striking out 12.

Opposing hitters were batting .156 off Montano prior to the onslaught.
"He hasn't given up a run all season, so you know that's not going to happen," Bando said. "He just got behind the hitters and left some balls out over the plate. That's going to happen."
As a matter of perspective, the Scrappers entered the game 14-3 when they scored first and were 15-0 when they led after seven innings.
The ninth hitter in the Jamestown batting order, Hunter Wyant, entered the game a .189 hitter. He went 3-for-4 as his team collected 12 hits, including 10 in the final five innings.
Haase, meanwhile, continued to be impressive at the plate.
"Jeff Haase has been swinging the bat [well]," Bando said. "We ran the bases [well]. He swung the bat [well]. We just have to keep adding on to the lead."
