STRUTHERS Man is arraigned on drug charges

STRUTHERS -- A man arrested on drug trafficking charges in June will need to put up $5,000 in cash if he wants to get out of jail this time.
Christopher Gentile, 29, of 109 Clingan Road was arraigned in municipal court Wednesday on charges of drug abuse and conveying drugs into a detention facility.
He was charged with conveying drugs into a detention facility after Struthers police confiscated an 80-milligram tablet of OxyContin they say Gentile had hidden in his sock while he was changing into a bright orange jumpsuit at the Struthers jail. Gentile was booked into Struthers jail on drug charges filed by the Mahoning County Drug Task Force about 9:35 p.m. Tuesday.
According to Struthers police, Gentile was initially arrested on a charge of possession of cocaine.
He was also arrested June 1 after members of the Mahoning Valley Law Enforcement Task Force and Struthers and Poland police departments searched his Poland home and the Struthers residence of his 49-year-old father, Larry. In that search, police seized suspected cocaine, drug processing equipment, a list of suspected drug customers and weapons, including a machine gun with a silencer.
Most of the items were found in a hidden room in the basement of his father's Struthers home.
After posting a $40,000 bond, Gentile was released June 10 from the Mahoning County jail.
Judge James Dunn set Gentile's preliminary hearing on the new charges for Aug. 12.
