Where: East of Ravenna, northwest of Newton Falls.
What: The Ravenna Army Ammunition Plant incorporates 1,371 buildings on 21,418 acres. Located within the perimeter of the Ravenna Army Ammunition Plant (formerly the Ravenna Arsenal), the Ohio National Guard's Ravenna Training and Logistics Site provides training areas and facilities for combat, combat support and combat service support units of the Ohio Army National Guard and all other reserve components.
Size: RTLS is composed of 16,164 acres divided into training areas as well as 13,000 acres under development for additional training areas.
Uses: Includes Unit Training Equipment Sites, gunnery ranges used primarily by M-1 Abrams main battle tanks, armory and personal barracks simulation center, dismounted training and field bivouac of troops, off-road vehicular maneuver area, day and night helicopter operations, parachuting operations conducted, wheeled-vehicle convoy route, a wheeled-vehicle road ambush site and a 5-mile forced march route, tracked vehicle training areas and sections set aside for civilian hunting activities.
