OHIOANS First round a rough one for the natives

Only one of the seven Buckeyes was in the top 10.

VIENNA -- There is one Ohioan in the top 10 after one round of this year's Giant Eagle LPGA Classic.
Jackie Gallagher-Smith leads the contingent of seven Ohio natives in the tournament. She shot a 68 Friday to finish 4-under par 72.
Local favorite Tammie Green finished with a score of 76.
"I had a tough day," said Green. "I got into a little bit of trouble on No. 3 and hit it right into the water. I have to come out here tomorrow and try to hit better shots."
Susie Parry is participating in the Weetabix Women's Open Qualifier during the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic. If she finishes in the top five among a list of LPGA golfers at the Giant Eagle Classic after 36 holes, she will automatically qualify for the Weetabix Women's Open.
Parry finished Friday with a 72.
Few birdies
Marianne Morris tied Green at 76. After playing the first nine holes at 1-under, Morris finished the back nine at 5-over. She had birdies on the second and ninth holes. She bogeyed five holes on the back nine and did not birdie.
Kristal Parker-Manzo of Cable finished six shots behind the leaders with a 70.
Parker-Manzo birdied three holes on the back nine, but finished with one birdie and two bogeys on the front nine.
"It is always nice to play in my home state," Parker-Manzo said. "But sometimes you tend to put a lot of pressure on yourself."
Ohio State graduate Meg Mallon finished with a 73.
Barb Mucha of Parma finished with a 69.
