Pancake breakfast to benefit Red Cross

SALEM -- A pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Paul School gym, 925 E. State St., will benefit the American Red Cross of North Columbiana County.
Volunteers will serve eggs, sausage, beverages and all-you-can-eat pancakes. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for children under 12.
Suzanne Viole, event chairman, said the Red Cross depends entirely on donations to provide local programs.
Proceeds from the breakfast will help fund Red Cross emergency services and education programs in Columbiana and Mahoning counties, she said.
Viole said the breakfast honors the memory of Frank Zamarelli Sr., a local chapter chairman and longtime Red Cross volunteer.
There also will be a blood drive from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., also at St. Paul's. Everyone who donates blood that morning will receive a free breakfast from the chapter.
