New Castle carjacking suspects sought

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Police were still searching this morning for three people involved in an apparent carjacking on Lutton Street and Cunningham Avenue.
An Ellwood City man traveling to work stopped at a stop sign at 4:55 a.m. Thursday, and two young men walked slowly in front of his car. A third young man approached the driver's side door with a sawed-off shotgun and demanded the victim's wallet. He ordered the man out of the car and to a curb, police said.
The young men tried to get into his car, but couldn't enter the passenger side door, authorities said. They then ordered the car owner to get into the trunk, but he refused. The three young men drove off in the white 1989 Pontiac Bonneville SSE, which had a rear spoiler and white rims. Police said the owner's golf clubs and work clothes were in the car.
The three suspects were black and appeared to be somewhere between the ages of 13 and 17, police said. One was about 5 feet, 8 inches tall with a medium build and was wearing a blue tank top with the number 22 on it. The victim could not describe the two other suspects.
