Views on child support welcome

The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services is accepting public comment on recommendations to be considered by the Child Support Reform Shareholders Group to improve Ohio's child support system.
"Public input has been an integral part of our efforts to closely examine the child support program," said ODJFS Director Tom Hayes. "Those who are impacted by the child support program are best able to tell us whether these recommendations are on target."
The Child Support Reform Shareholders' Group is an advisory group representing the many entities impacted by the child support system, including government agencies, parents, domestic courts, advocacy groups, legislators and employers. The 42-member group was established in March 2001 to help ODJFS and county child support enforcement agencies improve the quality of services to custodial and non-custodial parents.
The group used a variety of methods, including public forums, surveys and program reviews to assess the program structure, operation, service delivery and policies and procedures to identify areas needing system improvements.
Seven subcommittees submitted recommendations to be selected by the whole group later this summer as final recommendations. Final recommendations will be published this fall.
