Class AA roundup
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jolly Joe's and Roth Brothers have jumped out to one-game leads in their best-of-3 Class AA semifinals.
Sunday at Pemberton-Donnell Park, Jolly Joe's blasted Weaver Chiropractic 10-2 while Roth outslugged Pal Joey's, 12-11.
For Jolly Joe's, Mark Nightingale drove in three runs while Caleb Goist, Andy Caparulo and Rick Gozur drove in two apiece.
Joe Bettura singled and scored the game-winning run in the 10th inning for Roth. Sean Wardle drove in for runs to lead the Roth offense.
Jim Putko and Gary Kohler had tow RBIs apiece for Pal Joey's.
The series resume tonight with Jolly Joe's playing Weaver at 6:15 and Pal Joey's and Roth playing at 8:15.
Ohio Thunder wins 2at Mantle Tourney
STRUTHERS -- Ohio Thunder won two games Sunday in the Mickey Mantle Baseball Tournament at Cene Park.
In an 8-4 win over Wayne County, Steve Williamson tripled to drive in two runs while Kurt Davidson homered for Thunder.
In a 7-6 victory over Cleveland Yard Dogs, Davidson homered and drove in three runs.
For Yard Dogs, Brian Hayer's two hits included a homer and drove in four runs. Jeff Deighton also had two hits.Weekend Sports In Brief

CENTERVILLE -- Jason Buha never lost the lead in the final day of the Buy.Com Dayton Open, shooting a 6-under 66 to finish three strokes up for his first win.
Aeros lose 7-4
AKRON -- Tony DeRosso hit a grand slam during Altoona's five-run sixth inning to lead the Curve to a 7-4 win over the Akron Aeros on Sunday in the Eastern League.
Aeros starter Cliff Lee had allowed only a hit and a walk entering the sixth. He opened the inning by giving up two singles and a walk.
After Shawn Garrett's RBI single, Lee struck out two. DeRosso worked the count full, then hit his eighth homer to make it 5-1.
Altoona added two in the ninth on Shaun Skrehot's home run.
Ryan Church, Jhonny Peralta and Scott Pratt hit solo home runs for the Aeros.
Justin Reid (8-5) got the win, allowing three runs -- two earned -- on six hits and three walks in seven innings. Clint Chrysler gave up a run over two innings for his second save.
Lee (2-1) struck out eight and took the loss.

Romero winsScottish Open
LUSS, Scotland -- Eduardo Romero of Argentina took advantage of a late collapse from Fredrik Jacobson to win the Scottish Open in a playoff and become the third-oldest winner on the European tour.
Romero closed with a 1-under 70.
Mexican home runleader electrocuted
CAMPECHE, Mexico -- Nelson "The Admiral" Barrera, Mexico's career home run champion, was killed in an accident at his house. He was 44.
Relatives said Barrera was electrocuted when he tried to free some metal roofing that had blown into high-tension wires.
Barrera hit 455 home runs during a 26-year career in the Mexican Baseball League.

* NEWPORT, R.I. -- Taylor Dent beat James Blake 6-1, 4-6, 6-4 to win the first All-American final in five years at the $400,000 Hall of Fame Championships.
