SPECIAL EVENTS Delasin, McGann lead long-drive field
VIENNA -- The field has been set for two of the Giant Eagle LPGA Classic's most popular events, the Schwebel's Long Drive contest and the Butler Wick Corp., LPGA/Celebrity Shootout.
Both will be held Tuesday afternoon at Squaw Creek Country Club.
The professional long drive contest, set for 2 p.m., will feature a field that includes two of the Classic's former champions -- Dorothy Delasin and Michelle McGann.
The rest of the lineup includes Sophie Gustafson, Maria Hjorth, Tamie Durdin and Annette DeLuca. They will battle for $4,000 in prize money, with $2,000 going to the winner.
Hjorth ranks fifth on this year's driving statistics, while Durdin is ranked sixth and Gustafson eighth.
Shootout
Delasin and McGann will also compete in the shootout, slated to begin at 4 p.m. on holes 10 and 18. Nancy Lopez, the 1993 champion who is making her farewell tour this year, is also entered as is two-time former champion Tammie Green.
The rest of the field includes Danielle Ammaccapane, Pat Hurst, Janice Moodie, Michelle Redman, Sherri Steinhauer and Rachel Teske.
These professionals will be divided into two-player teams along with a celebrity partner. The celebrities will be announced this week.
Green and Donna Andrews won last year's event teaming up with WKBN-TV's Dave Sess.
The professionals will be playing for $10,000, with $4,000 going to the winning professionals.
