Atlanta campaign
Atlanta campaign
"We're out to show you a good time" is the theme of a new tourism promotion campaign launched by the city of Atlanta, complete with a Web site at www.gay-atlanta.com.
Among other information, the site highlights Atlanta Pride Weekend, an annual event that draws more than 200,000 people to Piedmont Park and includes a big Peachtree Street parade.
Map shows trouble
Motorists planning to travel the I-95 corridor between Maine and Virginia can find out about highway construction projects, lane closings and bottlenecks in the summer Northeast Travelers Alert Map published by the I-95 Corridor Coalition.
The 36-page booklet can be found at welcome centers, rest areas and truck stops along the corridor. An online version is at www.i95coalition.org.
'White House Un-tour'offers outside view
Since most of us can't tour the inside of the White House now, Washington Walks has joined with Children's Concierge to devise "The White House Un-tour."
The hourlong trek is a look at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. from the outside, aimed at ages 4 to 104.
Be prepared: Role-play by tour participants is one of the Un-tour's highlights. The tour leader also makes ample use of props, photos and drawings to enhance the experience.
The tour, which costs $10 for adults, $5 for children under 12, runs Tuesday through Saturday at 9:30 a.m. For more information, call (202) 484-1565 or visit www.washingtonwalks.com.
