This is the 32nd season for Tent Troupe, a group of high school performers from St. Luke Lutheran Church in Silver Spring, Md.
Local winner
YOUNGSTOWN -- Joshua Sutak of St. Matthias School recently won the fourth-grade division of Family Rosary's 2002 "Try Prayer. It Works!" contest, an international competition that encourages pupils to express their faith through art, poetry, prose, video and photography.
Sutak was one of 35 winners from among more than 5,000 entrants in the Easton, Mass.-based competition's Northern Hemisphere division. Sutak received a $250 gift and a certificate at a recent ceremony and the school received $500.
For seven years, pupils in kindergarten through grade 12 in Catholic schools, parishes and other Catholic organizations illustrate a faith-based theme. This year, it was "Prayer in Action," and pupils portrayed how they place God before their own interests by helping others.
