COLUMBUS -- Steve Jolley scored the go-ahead goal minutes after Columbus tied it as New York/New Jersey beat the Crew. Rodrigo Faria and Ross Paule scored for the MetroStars (7-7-2), and Tim Howard made four saves, two after Jolley's goal. Brian McBride had a goal and an assist for Columbus (5-8-3) in his first home game since returning from playing for the U.S. World Cup team. The lead changed three times in a five-minute stretch in the second period. After a foul by Crew defender Daniel Torres, Paule scored with a penalty kick in the 59th minute to give the MetroStars a 2-1 lead. Jeff Cunningham tied it a minute later, but New York/New Jersey didn't wait long to regain the lead. In the 64th minute, Brad Davis lofted a long, high ball on a free kick into the middle of the penalty area. Crew goalie Tom Presthus charged out to try to punch it away, but the ball was deflected straight to Jolley, standing alone on the right side of the box, and he tapped it into an open net past a sprawled Presthus. Both New York/New Jersey and Columbus (5-8-3) had six shots on goal. After Faria scored in the fifth minute to give the MetroStars the early lead, McBride scored in the 29th off assists from Brian West and Dante Washington to tie it. Clint Mathis was back with the MetroStars after playing in the World Cup, but left with a sprained right knee 32 minutes into the first half. A team doctor will examine him today.

FOXBORO, Mass. -- Brian Kamler and Taylor Twellman each scored to lead New England (6-9-1) past D.C. United (6-8-1). Kamler scored in the third minute with a 16-yard shot, and Twellman scored his MLS-leading 13th goal on a header in the 87th minute off a cross from Steve Ralston, his league-leading 11th assist of the season. Aidin Brown also notched his first career shutout for New England.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Matt McKeon scored his first goal of the season to lift Kansas City into a tie with Dallas. The Wizards (5-5-6) scored first in the 52nd minute when Dallas goalkeeper D.J. Countess deflected a shot directly into the path of McKeon, who scored. The Burn (7-3-6) tied it 10 minutes later on Ronald Cerritos' goal.

Spirit 5, Breakers 4
SAN DIEGO -- Julie Foudy scored on a penalty kick in the 92nd minute to lead San Diego past Boston in the WUSA's highest-scoring game ever. The previous single-game scoring record was seven goals, accomplished three times in the league's two-year history. Foudy put the penalty kick past goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc for her second goal of the game and third of the season. The Breakers' Kristen Lilly had two goals and assist as the teams played to a 3-3 halftime tie for the most goals combined in one half. San Diego (3-7-3) ended a six-game winless streak (0-5-1) and remained unbeaten against the Breakers (3-6-5) in five career matches (4-0-1). It was also the first Spirit win under interim coach Kevin Crow, also the club's general manager, in five games. The Spirit took a 4-3 lead in the 56th minute, when Lori Lindsay scored off a corner kick by Shannon MacMillan. Boston reserve Sarah Yohe answered in the 66th minute with an unassisted goal past Carly Smolak, who replaced Jamie Pagliarulo to open the second half.
