Man presents plans for sports complex

NILES -- Council members expect to learn within a week if it's legal to lease property in Waddell Park to a city man who wants to build an indoor sports complex. George Kuriatnyk, who has a construction business in Mineral Ridge, presented the idea to members of council's finance committee Wednesday. He wants to lease park property and build a center to house indoor soccer, softball and baseball facilities. The building also would house batting cages, he said. He's also talking with boxing and wrestling organizers who are interested in using the facility, he said.
Kuriatnyk estimates the cost at about $400,000.
