KENT STATE ACTIVITIES Revisiting the issue of racism



A list of scheduled Black History Month activities in February at Kent State University's main campus. The theme is "The Color Line Revisited: Is Racism Dead?"
Friday: Delta Sigma Theta Sorority sponsors a fashion show of hair and nails, 8 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom; the film series: "The Spook Who Sat by the Door" 7:30 p.m. in Mbari Mbayo Lecture Hall in Oscar Ritchie Hall.
Feb. 6: "Higher Education & amp; Diversity in Black and White," lecture with professor E. Timothy Moore at noon in the center.
Feb. 7: Visit by the Rev. Al Sharpton, nationally known civil rights activist from New York, at 7:30 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. Admission is $5; a First Thursday Forum at noon in the Kent Student Center, Room 218.
Feb. 8: Film series "Muhammad Ali: The Whole Story" at 7:30 p.m. in the Mbari Mbayo Lecture Hall in Oscar Ritchie Hall.
Feb. 12: "University and Community Wide Talk: Life Lessons from the Beauty Industry," with Dr. Victory Holloway, director L'oreal Institute for Ethnic Hair and Skin Research in the Kent Student Center Kiva.
Feb. 13: Visit by Dr. Bertice Berry at 7:30 p.m. in the Kent Student Center Ballroom. Admission is $3; "Wages and Education among Ohio's African Americans" lecture with Dr. Mark Cassell at noon in the Student Multi-Cultural Center's Student Center Room 206.
Feb. 15: The film series "SLAM" at 7:30 in Mbari Mbayo Lecture Hall in Oscar Ritchie Hall; a jazz cabaret at 7:30 p.m. in the Rathskeller, Kent Student Center, lower level.
Feb. 20: "The Geopolitics of Malcolm X & amp; the Pedagogy of Geography" lecture with Dr. James A. Tyner at noon in the Student Multi-Cultural Center, Kent Student Center, room 206.
Feb. 21: "The Life and Death of Malcolm X, A Film Retrospective and Discussion of the Life and Legacy of Al Haij Malik Al Shabazz," at 7 p.m. in the Mbari Mbayo Lecture Hall in Oscar Ritchie Hall.
Feb. 22: Movie Night Comedy Series "Harlem Nights" at 6 p.m. in the Student Multi-Cultural Center, Kent Student Center, Room 206.
Feb. 27: The movie "SLAM" at 1 p.m. in the Student Multi-Cultural Center, Kent Student Center, Room 206; "SLAM" Open Mic Poetry at 7:30 p.m. in the Rathskeller, Kent Student Center, lower level.
Feb. 28: An Open Mic Session at 7 p.m. in the Malcolm X Lounge, Oscar Ritchie Hall.
