MERCER COUNTY Drug charges lead to jail for area man
MERCER, Pa. -- A Sharon man received consecutive jail terms for selling cocaine to an informant.
Judge Francis Fornelli of Common Pleas Court sentenced Jeffrey Watkins, 26, of State Street, on three separate counts Tuesday of unlawful delivery of cocaine: nine to 18 months; six months to one year; and nine months to one year.
He was also sentenced to three to six months on a misdemeanor theft count, which will be served concurrently. Watkins sold cocaine to an informant on three occasions in September and October 2000 in Sharon.
On another occasion, Watkins agreed to work with police but kept some of the money he was given to make a controlled drug buy. He was ordered to make restitution and given credit for 42 days served.
Car-theft case: Also sentenced Tuesday was a Sharon woman who was caught driving a stolen car.
Rosalyn Dobie, 27, of Orange Drive, Hermitage, was placed on two years' probation for receiving stolen property, a felony, and fined $200 for driving during suspension.
She was also ordered to make $7,017 restitution to the insurance company and $392 to the car's owner.
Dobie was apprehended May 8, 2001, in a stolen Saab 900S. She claimed to have bought the vehicle from a friend.
