FARRELL GRANT Community development
Farrell intends to spend more than 25 percent of its 2002 federal Community Development Block Grant on the expansion of a light industrial area in Northwest Gardens. The city wants to use the money to match a $500,000 state grant to buy six houses and relocate the occupants, buy 23 vacant properties and move utility lines in an area bounded by French Street on the south, the Sharon city line on the north, Broadway Avenue on the west and Louisiana Avenue on the east.
Proposed spending:
$100,000: Industrial development project.
$132,000: Street improvements.
$85,000: Code enforcement.
$21,400: Donations to public service agencies.
$55,000: Grant administrative costs.
