TAC Mills' steal, bucket give Liberty victory



Newton Falls and Girard rolled; Hubbard won after a struggle.
LIBERTY -- Freshman Chenelle Mills stole the ball and made a lay-up to snap a tie with four seconds remaining in overtime as Liberty High beat Lakeview 56-54 in a Trumbull Athletic Conference girls basketball game Monday.
It was the only points of the game for Mills.
Jessica White, who scored 18 points, made two free throws with 25 seconds remaining in regular play to tie it at 49 and force the overtime.
Farrah Rivello scored seven baskets for 14 points for the Leopards (7-9, 6-6 TAC) who have won three in a row.
Amanda Monroe scored 19 points for the Bulldogs (6-8, 6-6).
Newton Falls 81, LaBrae 38: NEWTON FALLS -- In the first quarter when the Tigers went out to a 26-10 lead, Megan McElravy shot 4-for-5 from 3-point range and had 13 of her 17 points for Newton Falls (12-4, 8-4).
Kellie Drake scored eight of her 12 points in the second when the Tigers went in front 47-20 and Desiree Sterling fired in nine of her 17 points in the third quarter.
Kassi Collins pulled in six rebounds for the Tigers, who snapped a three-game losing streak.
Natalie Bate had 10 points for the Vikings (0-15, 0-12).
Girard 56, Brookfield 40: GIRARD -- Cachet Murray scored 13 points while Jen Maravola and Tealle Hunkus each had 11 points for the Indians (13-1, 10-1), who have won five in a row.
Hunkus pulled in 10 of the Indians' 36 rebounds.
The Indians led 14-7 after one quarter and a 16-point second quarter made it 30-14 at the break.
Holly DeMay scored 10 points for the Warriors.
Hubbard 59, Badger 57: HUBBARD -- The Eagles out-scored the Braves 16-7 in the fourth quarter after trailing 50-43.
Jill Phillips scored 20 points for the Eagles (14-2, 11-1) while Jami DuVall added 11.
Jenny Place scored seven points in each of the first three quarters and had 24 overall while Christine Miller scored 17 points for the Braves (6-10, 2-10).
