TRUMBULL DIVISION AHA to sponsor Heart Light Gala



Two area residents will be honored at the event.
WARREN -- The Trumbull Division of the American Heart Association will hold its seventh annual Heart Light Gala Feb. 16 at the Trumbull Country Club.
The theme of this year's event will be "A Magical, Mystical Evening" and will feature entertainment, dancing, and live and silent auctions.
There also will be tributes to area residents who have made special contributions through their professional and public concern for Mahoning Valley residents.
Honored: Atty. Charles E. Wern Jr. will be honored with the association's Heart of the Community Award. Wern, a recipient of quadruple bypass surgery, is a senior member of Wern, Kelligher & amp; Brutz, Ltd. He graduated from Vienna High School and Duke University, and received his doctor of law degree from Ohio Northern College of Law. He has served as a lecturer for the National Business Institute, co-chairman of the Youngstown-Warren Regional LPGA Golf Tournament, chairman of the Bishop Malone High School Golf Tournament, trustee and director of Warren General Hospital, chairman of the Mahoning Valley Economic Development Corp. and chairman of Warren Commerce Park.
Wern also has served as golf and baseball coach for John F. Kennedy High School and was recently named chairman and trustee of the Warren Philharmonic Orchestra Association. He is the father of three children. He and his wife, Maureen, live in Warren.
The Cardiac Service Award will be presented to Dr. Sadiq S. Husain, who received his high school and premedical training in Karachi, Pakistan, and graduated from Dow Medical College. He then moved to Scotland, where he became board certified in internal medicine and cardiology at the Royal College of Glasgow and Edinboro. He completed fellowships in Youngstown and Pittsburgh, and has been in cardiology practice since 1971 with the Ohio Heart Institute. He is a staff physician for St. Joseph Health Center, Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital and Northside Medical Center and St. Elizabeth Health Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American College of Angiology and American College of Chest Physicians, an assistant professor of medicine for Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and a member of the teaching staff at Ohio University. He and his wife, Janet, live in Canfield. They have three sons.
