YOUNGSTOWN -- A local minister who served as a chaplain at the Pentagon after the Sept. 11 terrorist attack will share some of his experiences when he speaks at the Park Vista Breakfast Club at 9:30 a.m. Feb. 14 at Park Vista Retirement Community, 1216 Fifth Ave. The Rev. Peter Lawson, pastor of Brownlee Woods Presbyterian Church and an Army National Guard chaplain, was called to active duty at The Pentagon to assist with recoveries, perform memorial services and seek out and comfort those who were bereaved. Safe-driving program
LIBERTY -- The township is registering motorists for a safe-driving program. "Fifty-five Alive" for those age 55 and older is designed to review driving skills and techniques. The two-class course, limited to 30 people, will be conducted from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 5 and 6 in the township administration building. To register, call (330) 759-1315. Cost is $10 for materials. Refreshments will be provided. The class is offered by township trustees, the police department and AARP.
