Man missing from jail faces added time
YOUNGSTOWN -- A 54-year-old man who walked away from a work detail at the Mahoning County Minimum Security Jail on Friday with less than four months of his sentence remaining could face six additional months behind bars.
Police said Timothy Ray Faler of Vienna was still at large Saturday. He was classified as missing about 8 p.m. Friday and will be charged with escape once he is returned. The charge carries a sentence of between two and six months in jail.
In addition, Faler will no longer be considered a minimum-security inmate and will likely serve what remains of his sentence -- for breaking and entering, possession of criminal tools and possession of drug paraphernalia -- in the Mahoning County jail.
Faler was incarcerated June 21, 2001, and was set to be released May 2.
Description: He is a white male, 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing 240 pounds, with brown hair, blue eyes, a light complexion and a large build. He has a tattoo of a figure bearing a sickle on his right arm and a scar on his abdomen.
He was wearing a green jumpsuit when he walked away.
