Accident hurts two;patrol suspects alcohol
BROOKFIELD -- The Ohio State Highway Patrol suspects that a possibly drunken driver caused a two-vehicle crash on Standard Avenue and state Route 82 in which two people were injured. The driver suspected of being drunk was not injured in the 8 p.m. Saturday accident, but two people in the second vehicle faced injuries that appeared serious. No other details were available. Troopers from the OSHP's Warren post were continuing their investigation late Saturday.
Robber hits Bank One
LIBERTY -- A man brandishing a handgun robbed Bank One, 3999 Belmont Ave., just before 10 a.m. Saturday.
According to police, the gunman entered the bank at 9:53 a.m. and demanded money. He escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash, some of which may be stained red.
No one was injured in the robbery.
The robber is described as a black male in his 20s, about 6 feet tall and thin. He was wearing a tan baseball cap and black leather jacket, had a thin mustache and was carrying a black book bag.

Fund-raising program
LIBERTY -- The Mahoning/Shenango Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals is offering a program, "Fundraising Counsel: What You Need to Know from A to Z," Feb. 15 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex, Belmont Avenue. Wilson, board president of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, board president of the Youngstown YMCA, and AFP's Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser. Zedaker, panel moderator, is senior associate at the Youngstown State University Foundation.
'Heart Hero' event set
LIBERTY -- In celebration of National Heart Month, the Heart & amp; Vascular Center at St. Elizabeth Medical Center will offer "Be a Heart Hero" from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Holiday Inn MetroPlex. The event, open to the public, will begin with blood pressure and cholesterol screenings and cardiac risk assessments, followed by a heart-healthy buffet dinner and dessert.
After dinner, Dr. Paul Stefek of Diagnostic Cardiology Associates will present "Am I Having a Heart Attack or Is It the Chili?" A panel discussion will follow. The cost of the program is $10.
