LEETONIA -- Village officials are seeking residents' input about changes to an upcoming sidewalk project.
Village Administrator Gary Phillips said a sidewalk will be installed this summer, but on Pine Street rather than Washington Street.
Last year, a sidewalk was installed along Washington Street from Vine Street to Walnut Street, past the Leetonia Schools' new kindergarten-through-12th-grade school under construction, then to Leetonia Road and Washingtonville.
A sidewalk on the south end of Washington from Vine Street south to Main Street was to have completed the two-part project.
However, Phillips said, concern about terrain on Washington Street, including a ravine, prompted the change of location to Pine Street.
The sidewalk will be built along the west side of Pine Street from Vine to Main. The work will be done in conjunction with the Ohio Department of Transportation and include some drainage improvements, he said.
Feedback: Phillips said he will accept comments in writing through Feb. 28. Residents should express any concerns about the route or possible environmental impact.
Written comments may be mailed or dropped off to Phillips at village hall, or mailed to Village of Leetonia, Attention: Gary E. Phillips, 300 E. Main St., Leetonia, Ohio 44431. For more information, call Phillips at (330) 427-8090.
