Birding on the web
COLUMBUS -- Birding enthusiasts can now view Ohio songbirds up close through the Ohio Department of Natural Resources web site at www.ohiodnr.com
A new feature of the ODNR web site, "Birdwatcher Cam" provides Internet users with live, real-time photographs of Ohio's feathered residents and visitors as they feed and preen at feeders in Quail Hollow State Park in Stark County. "Birdwatcher Cam" is active 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily through February.
"Birdwatcher Cam gives us the opportunity to see some of our feathered friends up close right from our personal computers," said Laura Jones of ODNR.
Common birds to visit the Quail Hollow State Park birdfeeder where "Birdwatcher Cam" is focused are the cardinal, blue jay, house finch, chickadee, downy woodpecker and dark-eyed junko.
BOATING
Expo Center boat show
The 16th annual Penn-Ohio Boat Show will be held Feb. 1-3 at the Eastwood Expo Center behind the Eastwood Mall in Niles.
The show will offer boat models from 12- to 30-feet, displays of equipment and information on service programs such as Vessel Assist, U.S. Coast Guard and the Ohio Division of Watercraft.
Hours for the show will be 5-9 p.m. Feb. 1, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 2, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 3. Admission is $5 for adults, free for children under 12.

Apply for grants
The BoatU.S. Foundation is offering grants of up to $2,000 for programs that educate boaters about local environmental issues. There is still time to submit an application on behalf of a community, non-profit organization.
Clean Water Grants awarded each year are supported by voluntary donations from the 530,000 members of BoatU.S.

Deer meetings set
Dr. Gary Alt, Pennsylvania Game Commission Deer Management Section supervisor, has added public meetings in Huntingdon and Pike counties to his schedule to discuss the agency's new direction in deer management.
The program this year will be a shorter-version of the basic biology of deer and history of deer management and focus more attention on where the deer management program is heading and the status of the ongoing research projects.
A complete schedule of the public presentations is being maintained on the Game Commission's website (www.pgc.state.pa.us).
