Donations help cover cost of dredging



WARREN -- Businesses and a local civic group have donated nearly all of Trumbull County's share of expenses to proceed with the next phase of the Mahoning River dredging project.
The contributions now total $35,500.
Trumbull County agreed to raise $41,200 toward the cost of the cleanup. A similar amount of money is being raised in Mahoning County.
Trumbull County contributors are Trumbull 100, $18,000; Home Savings and Loan, $6,500; General Motors, $2,500; Second National Bank, $2,500; Sharon Tube, $1,000; Denman Tire, $1,000; Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber of Commerce, $1,000; RMI Titanium, $750; Cortland Banks, $500; McDonald Steel, $500; Jugenheimer Associates Ltd., $500; Niles Iron and Metals, $250; Niles Expanded Metals, $200; Superior Walls of Ohio, $200; and Brainard Rivet, $100.
The county and the cities of Warren, Niles, Girard and Newton Falls and the village of McDonald have agreed to each contribute towards the $5,700 still needed.
