Woman hurt in crash
GIRARD -- A 24-year-old Beaver Falls woman was in critical condition at St. Elizabeth Health Center late Saturday night after a two-car accident near Interstate 80 and U.S. Route 422 around 8:20 a.m. Saturday.
Police said an 18-year-old Sharon man involved in the accident was cited for failure to control. No other information, including the names of those involved in the crash, was available Saturday night.
Youth enrichment
CHAMPION -- Trumbull Career and Technical Center is offering Saturday youth enrichment programs.
Classes for children in grades three through eight include pet care, computers, electronics, cooking, art and cheerleading.
Sessions are set for 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 2, 9, 16 and 23.
Cost is $40; supplies may be extra.

Meeting on road work
HOWLAND -- There will be a public meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 29 in the Howland Middle School cafeteria about intersection improvements on state Route 46 at King Graves Road and Raglan Drive.
Improvements also are planned for North River Road, King Graves and Raglan intersections.

Terrorism lecture
HOWLAND -- The SCOPE Center here is the site of a lecture about terrorism.
Paul Minton, EMS coordinator at St. Joseph Health Center, will present a slide show and discussion titled "Domestic Terrorism: What You Need to Know."
The presentation, open to the public, is Jan. 31 from 11:30 to 2 p.m.
Lunch will be available for $3.50; the lecture is free.

Environmental event
MIDDLEFIELD -- There will be a community dialogue on environmental concerns in the Middlefield area from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday in Middlefield Senior Community Center, 15820 Ridgewood (adjacent to Mineral Lake at state Routes 87 and 608).
The Martin Luther King Jr. Day event is sponsored by the Geauga County Cooperative Ministry, the Social Justice Committee of the Northeast Ohio American Friends Service Committee and the Department of Church in the World of the Western Reserve Association of the United Church of Christ.
Author to speak
HIRAM -- Author Patricia J. Williams will speak at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Hiram College's Hayden Auditorium as a part of the college's Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration.
A columnist for The Nation, Williams is widely published on the topics of race, gender and law, as well as other issues.
Her works include "The Alchemy of Race and Rights," "Seeing a Color Blind Future" and "The Rooster's Egg."
Williams, a professor of law at Columbia University, has taught at Harvard, Stanford, Dartmouth and Duke.
Man killed in collision
ROGERS -- An 18-year-old Rogers man died after losing control of his vehicle on state Route 7 Saturday about 1 mile south of Rogers, said a dispatcher for the Lisbon post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
Nicholas S. Skrinjar, 45663 Pine Hollow Road, was driving south at about 9:40 a.m. when he lost control of his car and slid into the northbound lane, colliding head-on with a car driven by a 45-year-old East Liverpool woman. Skrinjar's car then rotated and came to rest in a ditch. The woman, who was not identified, suffered minor injuries.
