Dietitian to speak
AUSTINTOWN -- Janet Schueller, renal dietitian, will be the main speaker at a meeting of the Mahoning Valley Dietetic Association from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Austinwoods Nursing Center, 4780 Kirk Road. Two continuing-education credits are offered for dietitians and dietetic technicians. There is no cost to association members and Youngstown State University students. The cost for nonmembers is $8 per hour.
A rally for a relay
LIBERTY -- The American Cancer Society's Liberty Relay for Life is having a relay kickoff event and rally at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Holiday Inn MetroPlex. Wheelchair program
Senior Wheels USA and Miracle on Wheels, a program of Durable Medical, makes electric wheelchairs available to nonambulatory people age 65 and over with no out-of-pocket expense if they qualify through Medicare. Foundation named one of the top charities
CLEVELAND -- Worth magazine named the Arthritis Foundation among America's top 100 charities. Criteria for the selection included a review of organizations that are making strides in either curing a disease or serving people living with a disease, and which organizations are national in scope and which are local or regional. Raising funds for AED
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- UPMC Horizon Foundation will match dollar-for-dollar, up to $1,000, that Thiel College raises toward the purchase of an automated external defibrillator (AED) for the campus. An AED costs $2,000. Call (724) 589-2145 for information on the program or how to donate money.
