Cops charge man with trafficking
YOUNGSTOWN -- City police arrested one West Side man and issued summonses against two female teens after a South Side traffic stop during which they discovered suspected marijuana, a .380-caliber handgun and a teen drinking beer, police reports show.
Police stopped the 1994 Ford Tempo about 10 p.m. Friday on West Marmion Street. A 24-year-old Midland Avenue man, a front-seat passenger in the vehicle, was arrested on a charge of trafficking in marijuana after police found nine small bags of suspected marijuana in his pants and coat pocket.
Police also charged him with carrying a concealed weapon and illegal possession of a weapon after police found the semiautomatic handgun underneath the seat he was in.
The 18-year-old Oak Hill Avenue woman was issued a summons for underage possession of alcohol after officer saw her drinking from a beer bottle in the car's back seat and confiscated the bottle from her lap area.
The driver, a 17-year-old Moherman Avenue resident, was issued a summons for failing to display a driver's license and no illumination of rear plate.
