BANQUET Keynote speaker is named by William McKinley Club



A re-enactment of events that transpired during the life of President McKinley will be presented at event.
NILES -- The Mahoning Valley William McKinley Club has chosen Joseph T. Deters, the 44th treasurer of the state of Ohio, as the keynote speaker for the organization's annual banquet scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Jan. 29 at the McKinley Memorial Auditorium.
The public is invited to the event; a limited number of tickets will be available for $20 each at the McKinley Library.
The speaker: Deters began his political career in 1982 as assistant county prosecutor in Cincinnati, and was elected as Hamilton County prosecutor in 1992 and as the state treasurer in 1998, taking office Jan. 11, 1999.
A graduate of the University of Cincinnati and its College of Law, where he was awarded the Longworth Alumni Achievement Award, Deter remains active in civic affairs and serves on the board of trustees of the Southern Ohio Leukemia Foundation. He and his wife, Missy, have three children.
The program: A highlight of the event will be a re-enactment of events that took place during the life of President McKinley to be presented by Mike Wilson of The Home Builders Association. Wilson was recently featured on "The American Presidents," a C-Span's series, giving one of McKinley's famous front porch speeches.
