At Wednesday night's meeting, the council:
Tabled the third reading of an ordinance that caps village payments for health insurance at $730 per month for full-time employees, single or family coverage.Approved an ordinance offering and implementing $200 monthly reimbursement incentives to full-time employees who opt out of hospitalization coverage. Approved entering into a contract with resident Owen Ague to rent space in a village-owned building across from village hall for $75 per month to do taxes. He once operated a barbershop there.Approved 4-1 a resolution supporting the Gordon B. James Career Center, with Jim Jones voting "no" and Thomas Hart abstaining.Niles School District has voted to pull out of the five-district career center compact. Niles was the largest member and paid the most tuition to the center.The remaining four districts, including McDonald, are debating whether they can keep the compact afloat financially.
