The Lawrence County Salary Board also handled these matters Tuesday:
Gave annual increases to all employees. Members of Local 964 of the Lawrence County Court Appointed Employee Organization will receive 3-percent raises. Members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 85 will receive $1,000 increases. All full-time, nonunion, management employees also will receive $1,000 increases.
Created three full-time assistant district attorney positions at $40,500 per year, another at $42,500 and another at $44,500. Created one part-time assistant district attorney position at $32,000.
Set the hourly rate for an office clerk for the coroner's office at $7.50 an hour to work 20 hours per week. The position previously had been unfunded and will be paid for by moving money from the coroner's budget for autopsies.
Created four deputy coroner positions at $4,009.72 per year.
Increased the chief deputy sheriff's annual salary from $27,800 to $32,500.
Eliminated one full-time clerk/typist II position in the sheriff's office and created one part-time clerk position at $8.75 per hour.
Agreed to these increases for county nursing home employees: $1-per-hour increase for registered nurses; 75-cent-per-hour increase for licensed practical nurses; and 50-cent-per-hour increases for all other employees.
Created a law clerk position at $28,500 per year to assist Judge Thomas Piccione. The law clerk's position will remain vacant until May.
Created an executive secretary's position at an annual salary of $18,000 for Judge Piccione's office.
Added one courtroom assistant at $17,750 per year and one courtroom security guard at $17,650 per year for Judge Piccione. These positions replace two full-time positions eliminated in the court administrator's office.
Eliminated one full-time stenographer's position and created two part-time stenographer's positions with the salary and benefits equivalent to one full-time position to be shared by the two workers. Elizabeth Anderson and Karen Stewart were named to those positions.
Voted down a request to increase annual salaries by $2,500 for the county's chief adult probation officer, assistant chief adult probation officer, intermediate punishment officer and adult probation office manager. They will instead received a $1,000 annual increase.
Agreed to set the salary for the juvenile court master at $26,000 per year. This position had previously been paid $40 an hour.
