Kennedy Catholic breezes to victory

MERCER, Pa. -- The Kennedy Catholic High basketball team scored 20 points in the first period and added 20 more in the second Tuesday as the Golden Eagles cruised to a 75-48 win over Mercer.
Leading the Kennedy Catholic (10-5) offensive attack were Dan McElhinny (26 points) and Nolan Reimold (25).
In addition to Reimold's scoring effort, he completed an outstanding all-around game by pulling down six boards, dishing out four assists and coming up with eight steals.
"It is very difficult for them to match up with those guys [Reimold and McElhinny], and that presents a problem for a lot of teams we face," Kennedy Catholic coach Tim Loomis said. "Their kids are young and they played hard, but we were able to make them do things they weren't comfortable with."
Agreement: Mercer (7-7) coach Mike Williams agreed with Loomis about Reimold's influence in the game.
"Those kids have shot the ball well for the past couple of years, and tonight I think they even shot it better than they usually do," Williams said.
"McElhinny made that one shot from the corner and got drilled into the bleachers, and we simply had no answer for Reimold," Williams said. "He is the best player in the county."
