CHAMPION MIDDLE SCHOOL Program will work to develop character

The emphasis this month is on citizenship.
CHAMPION -- Community Solutions Association will help the township middle school kick off its character development program at the end of the month.
Parents and pupils are invited to attend an assembly at 1:30 p.m. Jan. 31 at the school, 5435 Kuszmaul.
Framework for character development is based on the Josephson Institute's six pillars that help foster an environment of respect and responsibility.
The six pillars are trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship.
Staff training at Champion Middle was facilitated by Joseph Glover, character development trainer at Community Solutions.
The agency was formed when Family Service Association and 2 North Park consolidated. It's an alcohol, drug and mental health network provider.
What pupils learn: Pupils are learning how using appropriate language and making the right choices make a difference in creating a healthy school environment where individuals feel safe and accepted.
The theme of the assembly will be based on citizenship, the pillar being focused on this month.
Area police, fire and EMS personnel will share with pupils how they work together to make a difference.
