The Youngstown Power Squadron will hold a 5-week basic boating course starting Feb.14.. The class will meet Thursdays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Mahoning County Career Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road, Canfield. Registration will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14. There is a $25 charge for books and materials per student. State approved class. For more information call (330) 757-2872.
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will conduct its annual 13-week Boating skills and Seamanship course starting Jan. 16 at 7:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Hubbard High School. The course will cover trailing, boat handling, rules of the road, legal requirements, aids to navigation, weather, VHF radios, marlin spike seamanship (lines & amp; knots), piloting and personal water craft operation. Successful completion of the course usually entitles participants to a discount on boat insurance.
