Lodges to hold annual awards night



YOUNGSTOWN -- The three area Temple on the Hill lodges, Hillman, Youngstown and St. Alban's, will hold their annual awards night Jan. 24 at the Youngstown Masonic Temple.
The event will begin with at potluck dinner at 6:15 p.m. Those attending are asked to take a casserole or dessert. No reservations are required.
The Community Builders Award, which recognizes outstanding contributions made by members of the community, will be presented to Mrs. Karen S. Theis of Boardman. Theis was recently awarded the Valley's True Hero award by the DeBartolo Corp. A breast cancer survivor and founder and president of Glow Girls Inc., Theis' work with cancer patients grew out of her own experience with the disease.
Theis and her husband, Robert, have two children. She is co-owner of Colonial Hair Design in Boardman, which was created to assist cancer patients.
Also planned: David L. Collins, district deputy grand master, will present awards to 25- and 50-year members of the three lodges.
Guest speaker at the event will be Mrs. Sandy Beaver, who will talk about the Special Olympics.
