WARREN Sprint alters toll charges

THE VINDICATOR, YOUNGSTOWN
WARREN -- Area Sprint customers soon will see some toll charges disappear from their phone bills and replaced by an increased monthly fee.
The changes were announced last year and approved in voting by customers. The changes take effect Wednesday and Jan. 23, depending on the community.
In exchange for dropping toll charges, residential monthly phone bills will increase by $1.10 in most communities.
They will go up $1 in Cortland and 45 cents in Bristolville and Newton Falls.
Monthly bills for businesses will go up between $2.25 and $4.45.
The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio approved Sprint's plan last year to eliminate toll charges on 522 calling routes.
The routes are either local toll routes or extended local call routes for which per-minute tolls are charged.
