Rams hit century mark against Lowellville



Mineral Ridge went to 8-1 with the Inter-County League win.
MINERAL RIDGE -- The Mineral Ridge High boys basketball team used a balanced scoring attack as it turned back Lowellville 100-70 in an Inter-County League game Tuesday.
The Rams (8-1), who lead the ICL with a 4-0 record, actually had eight players in the scoring column, five of them in double figures.
Ahead by 10 points at intermission, 45-35, the Rams put the game out of reach as they outscored the Rockets 27-16 in the third quarter.
Chris Anderson led the Rams with 24 points. Malachi Hall chipped in with 23 and he had nine assists.
Dan Miller added 14 points, while Bobby Burgess and Kevin Garland finished with 11 and 10, respectively. Judson Williamson pulled down eight rebounds.
The Rockets (0-10, 0-4) were paced by Autumn Axel with 18 points. Chad Likens added 15 and Mike Palumbo finished with 11.
Western Reserve 68, Mathews 53: BERLIN CENTER -- The Blue Devils (2-8, 2-2) built a 36-12 lead by halftime.
Ryan Jones took scoring honors for the Blue Devils with 28 points. Robbie James chipped in with 13.
Greg Speece grabbed 14 rebounds, while Jones pulled down eight. Kyle Trimble had five assists.
Marc Burcham led the Mustangs (2-8, 1-3) with 27 points.
