YOUNGSTOWN -- Jamar Scales fired in 30 points as the Compass School upended South Ridge Christian 74-44 Tuesday night in a regular-season finale.
Darren Ford chipped in with 12 points and Mike Curenton added 11.
Boardman gradhonored at Lehigh
BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- George Evans, a Boardman High graduate and currently a sophomore at Lehigh University, garnered All-Patriot League honors at the league's indoor track and field championships held at the U.S. Military Academy.
Evans finished second in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.46 seconds.
Last fall, Evans earned a varsity letter in football as a wide receiver on a team that ranked fifth in the final Division I-AA poll.
OAC track eventheld at Mount Union
ALLIANCE -- Mount Union College will host the 2002 Ohio Athletic Conference indoor track championships Friday and Saturday.
Friday's schedule of events begins with the women's pole vault at 2 p.m. and concludes with the men's 300 meters semifinals at 7:45 p.m. Saturday's competition starts with the men's long jump at 10 a.m. and concludes with the men's 4x400 relay at 5 p.m.
Distance Classicset for Mill Creek
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Road Runners, along with the Dr. Morren Greenburg family and several other sponsors, will hold the 13th Distance Classic March 10 at Mill Creek Park.
The half marathon will start at 8:45 a.m. and the 5K is set for 9:05. Both races will start and finish at the James L. Wick Jr. recreation area and will be traffic free.
There will be windvests to the first 500 who register. There will be 72 awards in the 5K and 73 in the half marathon.

WASHINGTON -- Hobbled throughout his comeback by a painful right knee injury, Michael Jordan is taking a break to have arthroscopic surgery.
Jordan was placed on the injured list for only the second time in his career. He will have to miss at least 5 games.
Smith, Broncoscome to terms
DENVER -- Receiver Rod Smith and the Denver Broncos agreed to a seven-year, $40 million contract, scrapping the last two years of his existing deal.
The new package includes an $11 million signing bonus, Smith's agent, Tom Mills, said. Mills said the agreement saves the Broncos $3.6 million against the salary cap.
