HUBBARD
UAuthorized the purchase of a 2002 school bus from the American Bus Co., costing $62,345, paid partially by the state bus purchasing allowance and partially from the district's permanent improvement fund.
URemoved a 1979 school bus from the district fleet and offered it for sale.
UIncreased the general fund appropriation by $91,327 for textbook purchases.
UIncreased the bond retirement fund for library improvements by $56,260.
UAuthorized the purchase of three new computers for the special education program, funded from the general fund and from Title VI B at an cost of about $500 each.

UAuthorized a $12,351 contract with Harcum-Hyre Insurance Agency, Columbus, for liability insurance coverage until Jan. 31, 2003.
UApproved a high school marching band trip, April 1-6, to Disney World, where they will perform in the Electric Light Parade.
UAccepted a $350 donation from Hubbard Optimist Club for drug education.
UApproved Patrick Sebastiano for a seven-year term as the board's representative on the Hubbard Public Library board.

UAccepted the retirements at the end of the school year of the following teachers: Lawrence L. King, sixth-grade math, 33 years; Patricia G. King, seventh-grade math, 26 years; Joann Lutz, fourth grade, 32 years; Shirley Moritz, high school business, 31 years; Edward Shimborske, high school art, 30 years; Patricia Wildman, occupational work education, 29 years; Anita Kramer, nurse, 13 years.
URecognized Ward Vesey, 100, for serving 16 years on the board and for his community service.
UApproved one additional bus run to reduce overcrowding on several bus routes.
UAdopted the 2002-03 calendar, with first day of school to be Aug. 26 and the last day to be May 30.
UAuthorized Ricciuti, Balog Partners Architects of Youngstown to solicit bids for construction of an athletic complex.
