BorderHawksin championship
GARFIELD HEIGHTS -- The Youngstown BorderHawks Squirt AA Minor (9-10-years old) ice hockey team defeated top seeded Cleveland Heights 4-3 Sunday to advance to the Cleveland Suburban Hockey League (CSHL) Championship finals next Sunday at 6 p.m.
Nick Sheets scored Youngstown's first goal on assists by Ryan Taylor and Ryan Rinko. Taylor then scored, assisted by Tanner Schultheis.
Cleveland Heights scored the next three goals, but Sheets scored an unassisted goal at 7:03 of the second. Forrest Smith then put the Hawks ahead for good with a goal assisted by Schultheis and Matt Kadar.
John Welsh was the winning goalie.
Youngstown is 9-5-2 after starting the season 0-3.
Pavlik scores KOin second round
LAS VEGAS -- Boxer Kelly Pavlik of Youngstown scored a second-round knockout over Robert Dasoyan of Los Angeles, in a super-middleweight (165 pounds) professional bout Saturday night at the Mandalay Bay Resort & amp; Casino.
The win extended Pavlik's undefeated professional record to 12-0 with 12 knockouts. Dasoyan fell to 12-5.
Boardman, Fitchwin regional titles
AKRON -- Boardman High's boys bowling team and Austintown Fitch's girls team won regional championships at Midway Lanes Saturday.
Boardman rolled 4,394 while Fitch had 3,735 pinfall.
Three other area teams also advanced to the state tournament as Fitch's boys team (4,324) and Boardman's girls squad (3,649) were runners-up. The Struthers girls placed third with 3,398.
Advancing as individuals were Niles sophomore Keith Long (618) and Ursuline senior Lauren Bachinger (583).
Other state qualifiers out of Midway were: (boys) Nordonia (4,294), Timken (3,903) and Kent (3,897) and (girls) Perry (3,253) and Canton McKinley (3,215). Ursuline's girls team tallied 3200, missing by 15 pins.
The state is March 9 at Rainbow Lanes in Columbus.
Fitch, Struthersin title event
HUBBARD -- Austintown Fitch and Struthers will face each other for the championship of the Mahoning Valley High School Bowling Conference on Wednesday at Bell-Wick Bowl at 4 p.m.
Fitch's boys and girls teams finished No. 1 in Division I while Struthers' boys and girls squads were on top in Div. II.

Leggatt endsfrustration
TUCSON, Ariz. -- Ian Leggatt ended a decade of frustration, carving out a two-shot victory over Loren Roberts and David Peoples in the Tucson Open for his first victory on the PGA Tour.
Leggatt is the third straight first-time winner at Tucson, and the 11th in the tournament's 56 years.
The 36-year-old Canadian, who attended Q-school last year after just failing to keep his card as a top 125 money-winner in his rookie season, tied his career-low with a final-round 8-under-par 64.
He had a 72-hole total of 20-under 268, the lowest score at Tucson since David Frost's 266 in 1988.

SAN DIEGO -- Tim Dwight's playmaking ability impressed the San Diego Chargers so much that they've given the wide receiver-punt returner a $15 million, five-year contract even though he's not a starter.

Feofanova breaksvault record again
LIEVIN, France -- Svetlana Feofanova broke the pole vault indoor world record for the fourth time this month, clearing 15 feet, 6 1/2 inches at the Gaz de France meet. Feofanova added a quarter of an inch to the mark she established two weeks ago.

GOLD COAST, Australia -- Annika Sorenstam ended Karrie Webb's hope to make history.
Sorenstam, the top-ranked player in women's golf, parred the fourth playoff hole to win the Australian Ladies Masters.
Webb had been attempting to become the first golfer to win the same tournament five years in a row. But Sorenstam shot a final-round 69 while Webb had problems all day en route to an even-par 72.
Tied at 10-under 278, Sorenstam won when Webb bogeyed the fourth playoff hole, the 18th at Royal Pines.
Lietzke winssenior golf event
NAUCALPAN, Mexico -- Bruce Lietzke had three birdies on the back nine and shot a 5-under-par 67 to win the Audi Senior Classic.
Lietzke, who opened the final round five shots off the lead, played the front nine in 2 under and added consecutive birdies on Nos. 11-12, and rolled in a 12-foot birdie putt on No. 17 en route to his third victory in 14 senior tour starts.
Lietzke finished at 8-under 208 on the tree-lined Capultepec course.
