KEYSTONE CLIPS PennDOT employees raise $33,135



Employees of District 1-0 of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation raised $33,135 for charity last year as part of the State Employees Combined Appeal 2001 Campaign.
The employees raised $31,412 in 2000. The money went to a variety of charitable groups including the United Way, which is an umbrella organization for such groups as Habitat for Humanity, Boy Scouts, Gifts For Kinds, the Salvation Army and the YMCA. District 1-0 includes Mercer, Crawford, Forest, Venango, Warren and Erie counties.
New gallery exhibit: "Children of Yesteryear," a new gallery exhibit at the Mercer County Historical Society, opens to the public Monday.
Located in the second-floor gallery at 119 S. Pitt St., Mercer, the display is a follow-up to the "Children of Yesteryear" exhibit presented during last year's Victorian Days celebration in Mercer.
The historical society is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free.
Trout stocking schedule: Free copies of the 2002 preseason trout stocking schedule are available at the New Castle office of state Rep. Chris Sainato, D-9th.
Preseason trout stocking starts Friday and runs through April 13. During that time the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission will stock nearly 2 million adult brook, brown and rainbow trout in nearly 793 state waterways.
