YSU student dies after North Side shooting

YOUNGSTOWN -- A Youngstown State University student who was found shot Thursday afternoon on the city's North Side died Friday in St. Elizabeth Health Center, where he had been in critical condition on life support.
The Mahoning County coroner is investigating the death of Justin Treasic, 21, of Logan Avenue, who was found shot in the head and left arm in an open field at 3:40 p.m. Thursday at Ada Street and Poplar Avenue.
Treasic was found lying face down two feet from the road with a pool of blood around his head. His pockets had been turned inside out as if he had been robbed, and no identification was on him, according to police reports.
Could not speak: When found, he was breathing heavily and shaking, but unable to speak to police. Police found no shell casings near him.
Police patrolling the area of Burlington Street and Oakland Avenue before the shooting said they may have seen Treasic before he was shot.
Police interviewed one witness. A small scale, commonly used to weigh drugs, was found in Treasic's pocket, reports show.
