The city park board handled these issues Thursday:
Approved a $33,000 contract for Tom Ciminelli to manage the Stambaugh golf course from March through November, a $3,000 raise. His last raise was in 1997.Swore in Ted Szmaj as a new member and elected officers, leaving Denise Skowron as chairwoman and Denise Warren as vice chairwoman.Awarded a one-year contract to Shane Security Services of Poland to provide security guards at city parks for $8.40 per guard per hour. St. Moritz Security of Pittsburgh was the other bidder at $8.65 per guard per hour. St. Moritz previously had the contract, at $7.23 per guard per hour.Talked about the Hollywood-style walk-of-fame star that was installed without permission a couple of weeks ago at the John Young Memorial downtown. Whoever installed the item first needed approval from the city planning board and park board because public property was involved, said Joseph McRae, parks director. He had the item removed the next day.
